Wezo Sinqomo


Wezo Sinqomo was born and raised in Khayelitsha, where his journey towards creating positive change began. Growing up, he saw firsthand the challenges faced by his community, particularly in regards to food security and economic hardships.

Motivated by his deep-rooted desire to help those he grew up with, Wezo pursued his education and matriculated in 2012. He then attended the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, where he gained valuable knowledge and skills to make a difference in his community.

In addition to pursuing his education, he was a competitive ballroom dancer from 2004 to 2010. He achieved many accolades and became the best ballroom dancer in the Western Cape.

In 2020, driven by his belief in sustainable agriculture's power, Wezo embarked on a farming journey. He recognized the value of agriculture in fostering food security and sustainable practices. As a result, he felt compelled to contribute to his community's well-being through providing healthier and more accessible food options.

Wezo's dedication to creating a positive impact extends beyond his work in Chumisa. He is passionate about exercise and reading, understanding the importance of taking care of oneself both physically and mentally.

Above all, Wezo cherishes his family and holds them close to his heart. They serve as a constant reminder of the importance of community, love, and support.

As a co-founder of Chumisa Community Composting, Wezo's journey has come full circle. His vision to address food security and empower his community propels him forward. Drawing upon his educational background, life experiences, and dedication to sustainable agriculture, he strives to create a lasting and positive impact for the people of Khayelitsha and beyond.
